Blue and white diagonal weave with fringe
Sunday, September 7th, 2008| The Gallery features pieces which are in private collections and no longer available for sale. Where indicated, a similar piece can be made to order, but it is important to remember that no two handmade items are ever exactly identical. |
This unusual piece featured a pronounced diagonal pattern which is a result of an alternative method of warping taught by Maureen Dow of Cedar Hollow. This method of weaving also produces a tightly-packed weave which is wonderful when warmth is desired, and also has a great look when tossed over the back of a couch or armchair. Made of Lion Brand Jiffy, which has a fuzzy mohair-like appearance, but is actually easy-care washable acrylic, this piece measured 37″ on the long side by 26″ on the two short sides, excluding fringe.
The pictured shawl is no longer available for purchase, but a similar one could be made for you in your choice of colors. Estimated price - $35 plus $4.80 Priority Mail shipping, depending on yarn availability.
